kServer HTML Help: INTRODUCTION

Basic definitions

KKO- conference card, dedicated for MD-110 Consono exchange manufactured by Ericson, and makes possible to carry out two simultaneous voice conferences for up to 60 subscribers.

kClient- Windows98/Me/2000/XP/NT application, designated for managing of the KKO resources (conferences, announcements, settings).

kServer- Windows98/Me/2000/XP/NT application, which makes link between the KKO card (via RS232) and kClient's workstations (via LAN).

How does the kServer work?

The kServer connects up to 9 kClient's workstations with the KKO card via local area network (in the same time). Conferences are available for up to 2 users (the KKO limitation). Other users may login but we have not access to the conference.
The kServer links with the KKO using RS232 serial port.

When kServer software is usefull and when it is useless?

kServer software is used if we work with the KKO card hardware version 2 (RS232 interface) and we want work via local network from more than one kClient station.

If we want work with one station only and the distance between the PC and the card is short (max 15m), directly connection via RS232 will be enough.

If we work with the KKO card in hardware version 3 (network interface Xport) so in such situation kServer software is quite useless.
